Instrument 005 · the sampled connection
The instrument traces 256 sampled rays forward from the entry and highlights the one that passes closest to the target read. The backward cloud repeats the search from the other end. Drag either point to change the search. With dispersion off, the sampled aim curve is comparatively smooth. Turn dispersion on and the sampled curve becomes jagged; a small nudge can change which path comes closest. The instrument reports the best sampled path, not a guarantee that an exact connecting orbit was found.
